Hello!
Happy May! How badly have we needed this sunlight ☀️, imma right? Feeling more and more human with the sunshine, warmth and all the plants, flowers, grass and trees finally blooming. We’ve earned it after that winter and this lame “spring”.
Mother’s Day is coming up – I thought I’d share a few ideas I was thinking for my Mom and others that I just thought may help out anyone struggling for a last-minute idea.
There’s literally no gift on earth that could illustrate how your Mom makes you feel or how much you appreciate her and all she’s done. How do you wrap up a gift that says thanks for all the late nights, all the snuggles, all the snacks and meals made, all the playdates and sports events arranged, the birthday parties that are thrown, the time, money and energy of thousands and thousands of hours devoted to your happiness? Not easy. And many Moms don’t even need or want gifts, they’d like a little attention, spoiling or, more likely …. to be left the f##k alone for once 😂
Despite statistics showing men are stepping up more at home and with the kids, but the reality is still the Mom still carries the majority of the mental management at home— which means mental fatigue. So show your appreciation and give her 🧠 a rest.
Here are some ideas that may help…

Ladurée Gift Box
If you are not familiar with Ladurée – it is a world-renowned luxury patisserie in Paris, France 🇫🇷. They are famous for their pricey but incredibly delicious French Macaroons – it’s an experience! 😌 When we were in Paris in 2013, we actually went to have lunch at their famous restaurant. My Dad loved their scrambled eggs, while I nearly OD’d on the macaroons – for real! the flavours are endless. If you love French macaroons – there is just no comparison to Ladurée. If you don’t love them (they aren’t for everyone) they have so many other delectable options to choose from. They also have beautiful packaging that can be left out on display for storage – so pretty! Ladurée has come to Canada! 😳 (I just gained 10 lbs) with locations in Vancouver and Toronto.
2. Lush Gift Set
Can’t go wrong with Lush products. They are
3. Etsy – Custom Initial Necklace
Etsy is a wonderful place to shop. Many of the stores are small businesses with handmade crafted goods. Many of them are custom jewellery stores. There are tons of pieces to choose from and I love these little initial discs – you can add birthstones to them as well. What a great idea for Mother’s Day! At less than $20 each, the price is right on this one! 🧡
4. Tea Heaven!
If you follow me on Instagram I’ve already annoyed with you with how much I love this tea! It’s my absolute favourite! such a treat. But Sloane tea has dozens of gorgeous loose leaf teas that are all-natural and high-quality flavours. Delicious green teas, florals and herbals, black teas…. so many! I also love how beautiful the tins are. I re-use them and put cheap teabags in them. Sloane also sell accessories – like steepers, spoons and timers, so you could splurge for a tea set. Or, I use this little guy – bought it on amazon.ca and they work great:
5. BeautyBio – R45 The Reversal Retinol Cream
All women past the age of 25 start to obsess over their skin and how it’s ageing. Now, full disclosure, I have not tried this set. But I want to! some of the beautiful blog-goddesses I follow on Instagram have used it and you can see the transformation in their skin! it’s UNREAL! This stuff has been all the rage the last two years. It often runs out of stock but they quickly come back in. I plan on trying it but it’s a splurge at $150💰 but clearly worth it seeing those before and after results.
6. Beauty Bio – The Quench
Beauty Bio also has a kick-ass moisturizer called The Quench. This jar is all the rage right now. It sells out constantly and is raved to be one of the best moisturizers on the market. I want to try this first before any other BeautyBio products. Currently on a
7. French Press
This gorgeous French Press is sold at Indigo. I’ve had one for a year and really like it. Using a French Press is a process but it makes really delicious and strong coffee….something all things Mom’s need! ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
8. Coffee and Wine Set
I’m sorry, but this is great. ☕️🍷 I’m just a fur-baby-Mama and I want this set! hehe! so cute! love this idea. $22, you can’t go wrong. Love that gold rim look too.
9. Flowers!
You can’t go wrong with giving a woman fresh cut flowers. But they are also SO OVER priced for Mother’s Day. Your mom is worth it – so shelve out the big bucks if she loves flowers! 💐 But, if your mom has cats, kids, no space, or thinks fresh flowers are a waste of money, etc….if she has a yard, for the same price you could give her something to plant in her garden she can enjoy year over year. I recommend Drift roses🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹. These shrubs grow and bloom all summer long in beautiful vibrant colours. They are low maintenance and disease resistant too 👍
10. Lululemon
Activewear is a gift to all humankind 😄. Lululemon is always a great gift –
11. Books!
I really enjoyed Michelle Obama’s book – her honesty was so relatable and this is a true joy to read. Great gift for Mom.
I also am in the middle of Rachel Hollis new book…
Her books are easy quick reads that remind all women – not just Mom’s – to stop being so hard on themselves. She’s a funny and entertaining read and I definitely recommend her Girl, Wash Your Face book as well.

12. Make something or buy sweet treats!
Baking or cooking for Mom is lovely way to spoil her. AND …make sure you do the damn clean-up! or buy some lovely treats like cupcakes. Can’t go wrong.
13. Celebrate with some Bubbly
I am most definitely partial to the bubbly 🥂. This bottle of Henry of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Rosé Brut is delicious and affordable, $30, and makes for a lovely special occasion. What’s more special than Mom?
There’s also a more pricey Veuve Clicquot Rose Champagne if you really want to splurge at $85 🍾. This is a bottle of very delicious champagne. I normally can’t drink champagne without getting a headache, not with this kind – so yummy and a real treat!
16. There’s also always taking Mom out to dinner. I find it so telling that Mother’s Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants 🤨 – just goes to
15. The last idea is handwritten or typed love
I will end with a plea – can we all please stop judging and comparing! Being a Mom is hard, being a woman is hard, life is hard! Stop judging working Moms, stay-at-home Moms, Moms with only one child vs multiples, women who chose to be childfree, Moms who have adopted, Women who are surrogates, Women who want to stay single…I could go on and on. Women deal with enough in life – we need to stop judging and ostracizing each other and ourselves. If you’re living a life where most days you’re happy, healthy, comfortable and you’re caring for those around you – not just kids, but coworkers, friends, family…. you’re owning it! No matter how or what you’re doing to accomplish that – you f##king rock! Every life, household and family is different. Motherhood is represented in many different ways. You do not need to have been pregnant and given birth to be a Mom! There is no one definition. I’m motherly to my family, nephews, coworkers, friends and my fur-babies. Mother is the title for caregiver and protector. We all belong, we’re all doing it right when we feel like we’re doing it wrong because we care, love and want the best for others.
Still my favourite quote to share on Mother’s Day:
Happy Mother’s Day to all the kick-ass women out there. Cheers to all Moms! 🥂
